The Trump administration is forcing over a hundred people to show up in immigration court at once—but manipulating judges' dockets is nothing new. Our first step forward is a crucial look back.
Thanks as always for your thoughtful post. As an immigration activist for 10 years, I truly appreciate the effort and have posted to Witness at the Border on Facebook where 18K members hang out.
Another example of your exemplary writing skills and expertise in the immigration system. Political interference “both” politicians parties and mainstream media indifference have led to the beleaguered state EOIR Immigration court system.
All nonsense. Given the disparity between Immigration Judges, some approving upwards of 98% of asylum cases with the nationwide norm, 42% approval rate, shows that the IJ is the determining factor in asylum claims. Furthermore, lawyer coaching is the only way to get asylum unless you have a public case fleeing a known dictatorship, think those fleeing the Soviet Union, the Eastern Bloc, and Red China. Those, like Mikhail Baryshnikov are the approvable claims, while those from democratic nations like Colombia and Mexico claiming persecution or being a victim of a crime are clearly immediately deniable.
