Do we have any graphs or historical data from Trump's first term or prior to that? I'd love to see these numbers in perspective. It would also speak to any contrasts between Trump's first term & Biden's.

Also, Texas is the only state that records the immigration status of all who goes through its criminal justice system and therefore allows us to get a rough estimate of how many US citizens are getting removed each year. ICE admits to 1% because immigration judges catch 1-3% of their errors (which they don't report, but the data shows). That no longer applies. 1% of 5 million is still 50,000 and most in fact cannot get back. The Supreme Court have chipped away at some of the most fanciful interpretations of ICE when it comes to how they determine "crime" which they essentially are not trained to do (as an Article II enforcement agency when these are determinations that Article III courts have issue with frequently) and so many of the rationale cannot legally be applicable today. However, jumping a turnstile in NY still will get you deported, only in NY.
Then there was a 7 year long lawsuit in regards to what began as ruses but turned into their general methodology and the end product was 5GB of PDF files including the printout of a PPT that was almost entirely redacted. Wait until you see how many motorists they need to shoot in their vehicles in order to motivate a critical mass of protesters, stoked to violence by ICE and Trump’s pardoned army of domestic terrorists, in order to justify a declaration of martial law and the suspension of the mid-term elections.
Those detained and held unlawfully need to charge ICE personnel, Managers of Units and DHS administrators with conspiracy to kidnap them, and unlawful behavior under RICO statutes. LEGAL COUNSELORS need to be aware that a few arrests, trials of supervisors and line staff where a jury of the community will judge their illegal actions, will do more to stop ICE than any law or funding cut. Check the Paperwork ICE Guys and gals and stop attacking people who "look" like immigrants. This is a tactic that we (as in, attorneys or former attorneys who specialized in removals) have tried but the administrative system is opaque and their particular expertise is how to ensure that they will not be held accountable. Although they have immunity from criminal liability already on a federal level, for PR's sake (and they, like many other federal LE, have hired PR firms), have a history of ensuring the unavailability of those with any standing anywhere just in case. No other federal agency has this authority.
Even their claim to be police is actually untrue and violate state laws (they do not operate under Article III courts and so are not considered police, hence, no federal immigration defenders. The role is essentially a patchwork of locally funded public interest and private firms coordinated via AILA, Catholic Charities (they are in every state and everyone in this line of work has some connection to them at some point, no service provider has that kind of reach or budget or really, clout), and a more ad hoc layer centered around listservs and group chats. ICE has about 20 million more in funding but would be legally outmatched since all service providers are lawyers and most are at least bilingual and many have experience as defense attorneys, ICE shares their attorney pool with DHS. So in turn, they will never admit that they are literally police, and also, why it's detention and not incarceration. It's all wordplay because with a detainer you literally don't even leave the facility. God knows why they issue detainers to say Iranians who can't be sent back (I represented a guy who was on his 20th).
They don't have an institutional culture like the FBI or DOJ, but in theory they can simply declare your papers false and render you stateless for no reason at all. Therefore, nobody is safe, since effectively everyone's citizenship status becomes conditional when they have that authority. They don't literally have that authority as a matter of law, but since they can do it and get away with it, they have de facto have said authority. The only plausible explanation for why they weren't deployed on Jan 6 beyond the fact that many were removing asylees to certain death is Stephen Miller after 19 days of deliberation decided that a 9/11 memorial nobody asked for was so draining that he couldn't take the LSATs. Seriously, his official story and the LSAT date that year were 19 days apart and his lack of a proper legal education and experience is clearly why their policies are both slowly and inefficiently carried out and subject to legal challenges. Really it just takes a day to more or less legally turn the country into a dictatorship, since DHS backdoors the Constitution. We'd be lucky to get through this admin without that lever being pulled. Sure, it's all illegal, but there's no remedy, but ICE has guns. Max Weber was spot on.
I'm not buying it. It is kidnapping and violation of RICO protections for a community. These standards were set to stop government from terrorizing people, but are most used to arrest Gangsters. Government? Gangsters? Sound familiar? Ability to prosecute under these laws, at a local level. Get a judge and a City Coucil willing to direct their Chief of Police or Sherriff to serve a Bench warrant and arrest if the warrant is ignored. I rest my case.
Thanks for this, but I'm more interested in seeing more granular arrest data from this new data release, ie: arrests on a state level, Regional Field office level, etc. Someone has already mentioned in these comments that this recent data release related to arrests has not been updated on Deportation Data Project website and I don't see more detailed arrest information on TRAC as well. Are there any data sets from this recent release available with more detailed arrest information? If so, can you share link here or even via PM? many thanks!
They released the data as meat for the MAGA base. They know it's all they've got. Those concentration camps will not lie idle once the deportations are complete. They will be used for US, after we're accused of insurrection

ICE feels that it doesn't have to share its data with the public, and Congress doesn't care about the public, either. That should tell us something right there--it's time to get rid of both of these corrupt institutions.
