The State Department is axing key sections of the annual Human Rights Reports, including key information about violence against women and people with disabilities. Bukele and Orban stand to benefit.
Thank you, Austin, for articulating the link between the government suppressing information about human rights abuses and preventing the release of data on immigration enforcement. It’s all connected and is, indeed, part of the groundwork the government is laying to remove anyone it considers a threat, including US citizens.
Thought of you when I heard that NPR report. It brought me close to angry tears, thinking about the extra burden this puts on asylum seekers, especially, who must try to articulate the truth about their country of origin now in the face of the government's own denial that problems exist. Is part of my legal argument going to need to be, "The DOS is mistaken here"?? (Also I want to know who leaked that memo, along with the very instructions for revising the DOS reports!) Somehow in this nightmare circus, the actions that I find most dangerous and reprehensible from this admin are the ones involving the deletion of data and history. Thank you for helping to document what's happening.
Terrifying!!

As always, thank you for providing all this important information in a clear and compelling way
