USA making torture cool since the w bush regime. Not one bit of change for the better since then either…

This administration must pay for this.

It’s a decades long bipartisan effort

If you don’t demand actual accountability for all regimes since the w bush regime at least you grant impunity to all.

This is why we do what we do with what we have…Stand Up, Speak Out, Read, Post, Protest, Boycott, Vote…to hold these monsters to the fire.

The NY Times published a photo essay on 40 Venezuelans and their journeys from their time at CECOT to their current lives in Venezuela. These are broken men all suffering from PTSD from their time at CECOT. What the regime did to these men was beyond horrific. We have become the monsters we always thought were in countries like Iran and Russia. CECOT was a test run for the immigrant detainees now disappearing in third countries all over the world. We are worse than the Nazis in that we now pay other countries now do the dirty business of torture.

CECOT also mentioned in a recent Texas District Court habeas decision. The decision overall is a huge takedown of Trump's use of the Alien Enemies Act; here's the bit about CECOT:

"The stakes in this case, and others like it, could not be higher. Respondents have removed hundreds of individuals, some based on allegedly "flimsy to nonexistent evidence" such as "tattoos and social media postings," to El Salvador's Center for Terrorism Confinement ("CECOT"). CECOT has "a troubling history of violating human rights and where men sleep hundreds to a cell on steel beds with no mattresses or pillows." In a 2023 report, even the Department of State emphasized CECOT's "[p]rison conditions... were harsh and life threatening," and testimonies from released prisoners show "systemic abuse in the prison system, including beatings by guards and the use of electric shocks."
