Admittedly, I have no evidence to support my suspicions but I wonder how long it will take for someone to uncover what would be killer-news. Namely--someone uncovering that top officials of this administration, including Homan and others higher and lower than him, benefit financially from boosting the income 10-20-30-fold of the corporations that house the immigrants in their detention. I would not be surprised at all, in fact, I expect it to be taking place right now.

I agree. CoreCivic and Geo are garnering enormous federal grant funds to build and expand capacity for increased “heads in beds”. It seems logical to me that the longer they hold people and keep cells full, the more secure their granted funds are.

Ok but ultimately the entire category of criminality needs to be interrogated and rejected. In a political arena where "illegal re-entry" has been a top federally prosecuted crime as far back as 2011 we need to both acknowledge and reject the shift from civil to criminal code which both Democrats and Republicans have ushered in. Ultimately what they do to the least powerful they ultimately do to all of us and I don't want to hear about the dystopic future we'll share in government prison camps because it was ok to denaturalize the "true criminals." Everyone deserves due process. Freedom of movement is an essential human right. The land, the children, the future has been stolen from us. ICE is committing widespread atrocities and extraordinary rendition to secret or not so secret torture prisons is not new.
